Biographical sketch
Avis Lorraine Kemp of Norfolk, Virginia, attended [then] State Female Normal School from 1910 to 1912. During her time at the school Kemp served as Art Director for The Virginian (yearbook) and was a member of the Athenian Literary Society. Additionally, she was named best artist, daintiest, and neatest, in the class of 1912 senior superlatives.
