Carol Droessler Collection of Alice in Wonderland Memorabilia
Scope and Contents
The collection includes memorabilia and ephemera related mostly to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, but also includes items related to Alice Through the Looking Glass. The collection also includes papers, correspondence and photos related to Carol’s membership in the Lewis Carroll Society of North America.

Biographical / Historical
Carol Elizabeth Stoops Droessler graduated from Longwood College in 1950. While attending Longwood Carol was a member of the Rotunda Staff, Dramatic Club, Newman Club and Cotillion Club. She married Earl Droessler in the 1950s. Throughout her life, Carol was interested in Lewis Carroll’s Alice books. She collected published editions of his books, memorabilia and ephemera of Lewis Carroll and Alice. She joined the Lewis Carroll Society of North America in the late 1980s, and attended meetings of the organization and participated in tours and lectures.

Custodial History
Items were collected by Carol Droessler who made plans to donate the collection to Longwood in April 1998. Her husband Earl Droessler officially donated the collection to Greenwood Library after her death in 1998.
