Biographical / Historical
Aldine Marie Scott of Franklin, Virginia was born in 1905 to R.M. and Lucille Bradshaw Scott. In 1923, she enrolled as a student at then-State Normal School for Women and graduated in June 1925. While a student, Scott was a member of the Jefferson Literary Society, the Athletic Association, the YWCA, the Hiking Club, and the S.S.S. Club. After graduation, Scott taught school in Virginia and North Carolina, worked for the U.S. Government, and was later a housemother at the Women’s College of the University of North Carolina in Greenville. In 1933, Aldine Scott married George Floyd Beale from Southampton County, Virginia.

Custodial History
This scrapbook, compiled by Aldine Marie Scott while a student at State Normal School for Women and State Teachers College, was donated to the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations in 2009 by Scott’s daughter in law, Mary Ellen Moore Beale. This collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives in 2006.
