Institute of Southern Culture
This collection contains information relating to the Institute of Southern Culture’s finances, administrative records, correspondences, lectures, publications, and programming and promotion. Items in the collection consist of paper documents with dates ranging from 1955-1976.
Integration: Through Teachers’ Eyes
This collection consists of transcripts from 12 oral history interviews conducted in 2003. These interviews cover topics that include: the 1951 student strike in Farmville, VA, the struggle for integration, Brown v. Board of Education, and other civil rights related issues.
James Elliott Walmsley Collection
The bulk of the materials in this collection consist of ephemera, books, and pamphlets collected by Dr. Walmsley. Also included in the collection are (3) lectures given by Dr. Walmsley, a luncheon invitation autographed by Theodore Roosevelt, and (1) piece of correspondence concerning the legacy of Woodrow Wilson. These materials date from the early 19th century to the mid-20th century.

Jean Carruthers Boatwright Correspondence
The correspondence in this collection dates from 1885-1886 and 1948. The (3) pieces of 19th century correspondence were written by Jean (Carruthers) Boatwright to her parents while she was a student at [then] State Female Normal School. The (2) pieces of correspondence from 1948 were written by Margaret (Boatwright) McIntyre to Mary E. Peck and concern the donation of her mother's correspondence to the school.
Jean Stein Konzal - Virginia Student Help Project Collection
This collection consists of written speeches given by Jean Stein Konzal about the Queen’s College Virginia Student Help Project, photographs from her time in Prince Edward County in 1963, and letters to Stein from former students. There are also NAACP special project certificates and documents pertaining to the Free School.
Jefferson Debating and Literary Society
This collection, consisting of (1) hardbound ledger, contains the constitution, by-laws, and meeting minutes of the Jefferson Debating and Literary Society. It ranges in date from 1910 through 1926.
John Atkinson Cunningham Photograph Collection

Jonnie Hiner Scrapbook Collection
This collection, which dates from 1912, 1915-1917, and 1922 consists of correspondence, photographs of State Normal School students and faculty, ephemera, and (2) scrapbooks compiled by Jonnie J. Hiner. The majority of the scrapbook content relates to Jonnie Hiner's time at State Normal School for Women but sections also relate to Hiner family vacations in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina.
Juanita Fay Salmon Scrapbooks

One notebook includes information about her overseas travels including an itinerary and some addresses of those she met during her travels. The notebooks do not include the years in which they were written.
